Now look who we have here...

my arch nemesis. I'll pwn you this time! >:( It seems to me you are like a ninja...waiting for the right moment to sneak up and plant a bomb or two. :P

Anyways, welcome back and good luck for the contest. This tune was good, not very unique, since I've heard a lot of classical submission so far that sound kinda similar to this one. None the less it's composed on a high level and could be well fitting for a certain Ingame situation or the credits (in my view at least).

The soundquality is on a high standard, as already heard in your other submissions. So overall, I say swell job on this. Surely a strong submission to the contest but in the end...I'll pwn you, you hear me!? >:(

5/5!

Arbiter responds:

I am the ninja you described, oh yes.
However, Darkside, my nemesis! I will defeat you by ONE spot this year as well!
(even if I don't make it to the finals)

Nice!

Calm beginning which leads into some good melodical metal afterwards. Drums were audible but gaaah way to quite the hole time. >: /

Also...could I hear the cuts you did? Yes I could or at least it sounded like that. If you need to cut a layer or overrecord something, watch out that the signal you recorded does go smooth with the previous recording. Maybe it just sounded strange because of the drums but that just for the info. ;)

Anyways, quite cool track. Missed some bad ass riffs but it was good overall. Still 5/5 since the current score is undeserved!

jdh504 responds:

Yeah I just picked one drum loop to use for the whole time in the beginning and just messed with the intensity and variations and such, but I probably should've made them louder in the whole mix. I think I might know which part you're talking about with the cut, I'm pretty sure I've accidentally done that before, thanks for that info though, I'll have to focus on that more often. I do wish I could've done more stuff with the heavier riffs, but every time I do that kind of thing and the song's running on like 3 minutes, I always think that if I keep on going that I'm probably gonna go over the size limit for newgrounds, so I just find a way to end the song. Thanks for the review though man, I appreciate it.

Sweet!

This could be very nice for the beginning of a night based level as the title shows already! I've noticed that the drums are a little weak on this one. I assume they should just underline the gentle feel of the hole tune. A bit strange in my view but all in all they fit. ;)

Overall, another good one there buddy. Btw, you should check ur e-mailz. Little suprise waiting there.

teh 5. Oh and also, if you haven't noticed already, my entry is up on NG now! >:)

Good luck in that contest! :)

MaestroRage responds:

the drums are not meant to be too diverse in this piece, merely as a simple funeral march of sorts. Like you mentioned, just keeps them all together. Though I suppose a bit more variety wouldn't have hurt :/...

In any case, it serves the purpose it was made for, so I figure, it's good as is :D!

Thank you for the review DarksidE! I'm glad you liked it!

Nice one!

I want to be honest with you on this one. I don't like distortion tone at all. I guess it's my personal taste on this. For me, it's a bit too fuzzy but thats just me. Other than that, I can't really say much about this other than "good job". Slow and druggy shit...hey, even bass! ;)

Drums sounded fine but could be a little more up in the mix, just a minor thing anyways so w/e.

Keep it up!

Extar responds:

I always welcome honesty in these things :D I don't like blaming equipment, so I'll instead blame my ability to set it up, I know what you mean on this distortion, believe me, if I could get a fat Marshall tone then I would. The sound I get when it comes to recording has always been a bit hit and miss.
Glad you appreciated the presence of the bass. I wanted to achieve something really lumbering and menacing with this one so it's good you think I came pretty close to the mark on that one.
I agree, louder drums probably wouldn't hurt.
Thanks for the detailed review! :D

Sweet!

You already know that I love this. It's actionpacked and has this magical flow. A great composition which I could listen to all day long. You even put some bongos in the background? XD I just noticed. lol. Nice going there. The percussion work was intense. Very deep and powerful tone.

I just hope I can come up with some that matches this sweet tune. ;)

Anyways, great entry! Surely one of my favs!

MaestroRage responds:

Hey DarKsidE555! Thanks for dropping by! I'm more then sure you can, the game needs some freaking sweet metal songs, and i'm sure you are one of few who could deliver! So get yur arse in thar, and grind the axe over the souls of many >:(!!!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it ^^!

Fucktard! D:<

This is intense...left me speechless...such power, such energy. Damn, this surely is something for an intro or an epic battle. Top 5 stuff for sure. You did a kick ass job my friend and I hate you for that! >:(

I guess my entry won't stand a chance this time, there are just so many good entries in this MAC. Damn you all!

Props for making an awesome entry there David. Everything holds together strongly. No complains!

DavidOrr responds:

Well, thanks for the support!

There are some great submissions this time around, so dubbing this top 5 material is quite a compliment!

Interesting!

To say at least. Strange beginning. An unanswered phonecall for no reason catched with a tad of wind...Anyways...like stated in the summary, this was fairly interesting. The soundquality of the tune was on a high level for sure and I enjoyed the changes you did thar. A bit repetitive for my taste but it's ambient stuff and it should underline something certain.

The vox were you I assume? They were nice in my opinion, well fitting for an monologue. Overall, I say...Sweet job to this pitbulljones! :)

5/5 from me!

pitbulljones responds:

Hey man many thanks for the review. hehe yea i intended for the long drawn out odd beginning, it's cost me some bit depth just to have it but what the heck. An unanswered phonecall, i'd never have thought that, but imagery is something i want my listeners to take from a tune so thats cool.

I was really worried about the compression involved when mixing this tune down, going down to 96kbps is never good but surprisingly as you have mentioned it's held up, i've had right disasters quality wise before. I suppose it's because a lot of this is midi based, and i've used eq and comp and limiting well, rather than throwing em in just to get volume.

Yea i do make kinda repetitive tunes, it's a problem of mine as i want vocals over the track, which would be the final layer to keep the repetition away a bit, but i have limited vocal talent sadly.

Yep the vocals are me, with my mancunian tones, I did that in one take, on the fly....nice to do a bit of acting as i havn't done in a while. I'm glad you like them, as it was very much a gamble to do it, seems it's paid off.

Thanks yet again for ur words, i'll hit you back as i noticed you have a new tune up.

Cool!

Liked it. Don't know if it really could fit the CC feel but all in all I say it was very nice composed. Could be something for a bonus stage maybe?

All instruments were adjusted well, so no complains there. Good luck in the contest there man! See ya around!

NiDeCo responds:

I do think this is my best (at least quality-wise) work up to now.
When I get some more free time (university is hard work >_<) I'll try and make some more music.

Just, thanks man ;)
NDC

Why hello thar!

Seems like you plag NG from now on too, ey? ;D

Nice tune you got there man! Liked the intro, it gives the hole thing a classical feel but changes into some sweet metal afterwards. :)

I think this tune could fit the Castle Crashers as an heroic intro in my opinion at least. I have to say, the drums could have been a little more up in the mix. They are good but they don't quite catch up with teh sexy guitar playing. Other than that minor error, it was sweet like ice-cream.

Good job Rod!

Toonimated responds:

oh boy, same review as Sheezy? lol, well you have my answer there, but thanks! XD

Quite nice!

As my stupid clone already mentioned (lol, I still pwn you Evil-fag! <3) this song has potential, though it's roughly mixed. The drums sound kinda "flat" to me and they are going completely down under when the guitars kick in. A bass would also be a nice touch for this one to give the low freq a little more attention.

I'm sure the re-recording will be better, which doesn't mean this one was bad. ;)

Get's 4/5 from me. Later man!

Scribbler responds:

Thank you, I look forwarding to adding bass to the rerecording, if I ever get to it. And thanks for the superstar review!

...Music is the way to show your deepest feelings... Not everyone likes metal... FUCK THEM!! kekeke! ^_ ^
